BRIGHTON — Miami-based El Car Wash is opening its first Michigan location this week in Brighton.
The corporate-owned location opens at 7 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, and will celebrate its grand opening at 12 p.m. with the help of local law enforcement agencies, business owners and customer discounts.
As the newly minted “official car wash” of the Detroit Lions, there will also be members of the Lions’ dance team on-site Friday, along with team mascot Roary. Customers can enter to win various prizes, ranging from Detroit Lions tickets to unlimited car washes.
The wash is located at 8680 W. Grand River Ave. and will be open 7 a.m.-8 p.m. daily. Customers will have access to several complementary items, such as dash wipes, glass cleaner, disposable towels, compressed air, interior cleaner and more, according to El Car Wash Director of Marketing Carly Klein.
Klein confirms that about 88% of used water from El Car Wash is recycled, which means customers could save up to 100 gallons of water compared to washing their vehicle at home. The location also includes heated concrete to support high-quality service during the cold winter months.
“We really want to provide value for the services we provide,” Klein said.

El Car Wash has already committed to financially supporting several local schools, including Brighton High, Hilton Elementary, Hornung Elementary, Scranton Elementary and Maltby Intermediate. The company raised over $350,000 for cancer research in Florida in 2023.
El is expected to open its second Michigan location in Madison Heights, just north of Detroit, later this year, and plans to open about 10 more locations statewide in 2025.
Brighton was selected for the first wash in Michigan because of its strong sense of community, growing population and a perceived shortage of car wash options, Klein said.

‘We think it’s an area that needs to experience a new kind of car wash,” she said.
